| Description: The Alaska Folk Festival in Juneau is the longest running music festival in the state, with a history that dates back nearly 40 years. Six musicians started the Alaska Folk Festival with a mission to encourage, support and perpetuate homemade folk music in Alaska. Festival continues to operate under the same guiding philosophy as a free opportunity for lovers of the genre to participate, perform, dance, learn and breath folk music for an entire week in April with jamming sessions, workshops, dance lessons and more. Visitors flock to this event from all stretches of the state and the country. |
